In the book of Exodus, it is written: “You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image…you shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God” (Exodus 20:3-5).

Similarly, in the book of Daniel, we see the steadfast faith of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. When commanded to bow down to a golden image, they replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter…we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up” (Daniel 3:16-18).
